Stress can come at us from any number of different places and our health is certainly one of them. I have suffered from Tinnitus for years and read about it often. This article caught my eye and I am including it here for any of my readers who may have questions of their own.
Have you ever been minding your own business and suddenly heard a sharp ringing sound in one of your ears? It most likely startled you if you weren’t expecting it, but knowingly or not, you just experienced a brief bout with tinnitus.
Tinnitus is commonly described as a ringing sound in one or both of your ears, even though it can also appear as some other form of sound, such as whooshing or buzzing. A mild form of the condition typical arises due to wax build up or fluid draining into the inner ear.
More serious cases of tinnitus are usually caused by some other factors. Some of the most common ones include loss of hearing due to high age and exposure to extremely loud noises.
Tinnitus can be very hard to treat because there is no known cure for tinnitus. Often the sufferer just has to learn how to live with the condition. It is common that the symptoms never totally disappear.
The best thing that one can hope to do in most cases is to find some way to take your mind off of it. Currently the best tinnitus treatments are the ones that allow your brain to automatically cancel out the sound. This method is usually achieved by playing a level humming sound using earphones or special ear pieces that will force your brain to cancel out the tinnitus ringing sounds.
In this way you are not eliminating the sound per se, but finding a way to trick your mind into ignoring it. Sufferers have found this to be effective, especially while going to sleep, as insomnia is one of the bigger and more troublesome side effects of having tinnitus.
There are no known medicines or medications that will directly and definitively cure tinnitus. There aren’t even medications that effectively treat tinnitus, but there are supplements and different forms of therapy that have proven effective in studies.
There are some relaxation techniques, that relieve stress, and supplements with certain natural compounds that many people have found help with. Also, some patients have found relief with some ear wax reduction treatments or with certain ear drops. The most suitable treatment in every specific cases is always individual.
Some new researches have achieved significant progression in understanding the function of brains that causes tinnitus. These new findings may help to find a cure in the future. Nevertheless, this cure is not expected to be available for the patients for a long time.
There is hope for those suffering from this annoying condition. However, before the actual cure is available for public, we just have to use the methods that hopefully offer some relief for the symptoms.
